Ownns ("we", "our", or "us") operates a peer-to-peer residential rental discovery application in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. We are deeply committed to respecting your privacy, maintaining data transparency, and adhering strictly to India’s Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, 2023.
1. Personal Data Collected & Purpose
We collect and process only the minimal data strictly necessary for rental discovery and trust:
- Full Name: Identifies you to counterparties during in-app rental inquiries and property visits.
- Age (18+ Verification): Required to verify legal contractual capacity to enter residential tenancy agreements. Age is kept strictly confidential and is never displayed publicly on listings.
- Email Address: Authenticated securely via Google Sign-In for passwordless account security and transactional safety alerts.
- Electricity Bills & Ownership Proofs: Uploaded with explicit owner consent strictly to verify property location and authenticity. Stored in isolated, encrypted private vaults with server-side Row-Level Security (RLS). Never exposed in public APIs or gallery views.
- Property Media (Photos & Videos): Displayed publicly on listing cards only after manual moderation approval.
- In-App Messages: Facilitates end-to-end communication between tenants and landlords without publicly broadcasting personal telephone numbers.
2. In-App Chat Privacy & Safety Auditing Notice
Your privacy in chat conversations is of paramount importance. Personal contact numbers and emails are automatically masked in conversation headers.
Moderation & Complaint Access: To prevent fraud, cyber extortion, abusive behavior, and illegal rental practices, you explicitly acknowledge and agree that Ownns authorized safety moderators and grievance administrators have the right to access, inspect, and review chat messages solely upon the submission of a user report, safety alert, or active fraud investigation.
Chat contents are never sold, mined for advertising, or shared with commercial third parties.
3. How Your Data is Secured
- PostgreSQL Row-Level Security (RLS): Every database table enforces server-derived cryptographic policies ensuring users can only read or write permitted records.
- Dual-Bucket Storage Architecture: Sensitive ownership documents reside in a private bucket accessible only via short-lived, authenticated signed URLs.
- Zero Keystroke / Password Logging: Ownns does not track keystrokes, third-party advertising cookies, or session replays.
4. Your Statutory Rights Under the DPDP Act, 2023
As a Data Principal under Indian law, you have full rights regarding your personal information:
- Right to Access: View all profile information in the application at any time.
- Right to Correction: Update your name, age, or profile details at any point.
- Right to Erasure (Account Deletion): You can permanently delete your account directly inside the app (Settings → Delete Account) or online via our Web Account Deletion Portal. Deletion immediately purges your database records, profile, messages, and uploaded files.
- Right to Grievance Redressal: Submit complaints regarding data processing to our Grievance Officer.
